Leroy Ralph Vargason, son of Lyman Richard and Alice Luetta Bennett Vargason, was born on January 31, 1926 near Randalia, Iowa in Fayette County. Ralph was educated in the Randalia Schools. On May 26, 1945 Ralph was united in marriage to Doris Elaine Poor in West Union, Iowa. Ralph and Doris became parents to two daughters, Janice and Nancy. Ralph was a handy man who was able to do many things and do them well. Ralph farmed, worked for the Co-op in Stanley and Elkader, and made his home in Tipton when he worked for the Interstate Livestock Association. Ralph was a past member of the Arlington Saddle Club and the Trinity United Methodist Church in Hazelton, Iowa as well as being a current member of the Tipton United Methodist Church where he served his church in many capacities. Ralph is survived by his daughter, Janice (Mrs. Tom) Weber of Independence, Iowa; grandsons, Chris Weber of Muscatine, Iowa and Troy Ferrell of Oelwein, Iowa and special friend, Barb Wakeland of Wapello, Iowa. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, wife Doris on January 2, 1992, daughter Nancy Ferrell in 2002, and grand daughter Marie Ferrell in 2005. A general memorial fund has been established in his memory. Family and friends are invited to the Legion Hall in Hazelton following the burial for a time of sharing memories and food.
