Randy Joe Mathias

Funeral services for Randy Joe Mathias, 58, of Tipton who died Monday, July 2, 2012, Mercy Hospital Hospice Unit, Iowa City will be held Saturday, July 7, 2012 at 10:30 am at the First United Church of Christ, Tipton with Pastor David Lorenzen officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 6, 2012 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. Burial will be in the Red Oak Cemetery, Tipton. Casket bearers are Harry Wethington, Ron Elijah, Dane Treadwell, Randy Siders, Harlan Howe, Dean Wilkerson, Doug Stiff and Earl Rupe. Honorary casket bearers will be Ron Emrich, Merle Groff and Jerry Elijah. A memorial has been established in his memory. Randy was born January 2, 1954, the son of Cecil Paul and Norma Lucille Woode Mathias. He was a 1972 graduate of Tipton High School. On June 9, 1973 Randy was united in marriage to Nancy Jo Hodgden at the First United Church of Christ in Tipton and had just celebrated 39 years of marriage. Randy was very proud of completing 40 years of farming. Randy is loved and survived by his wife, Nancy of Tipton; daughters, Teresa (Jacob) Bohlmann of Tipton, Megan (Dustin) Mason of Bettendorf; son, John Mathias (Joe Reilly) of Iowa City; his father, Cecil Mathias of Tipton; close family friend, Freda Chambliss; 4 grandchildren, Cody, Clayton, Caleb, Callie; and brothers, Ronald (Carol) Mathias of Davenport and Larry (Sherri) Mathias of St. Charles, IL. He was preceded in death by his mother, Norma.
