Raymond Ulyssis Lendt

Raymond U. Lendt, 89, formerly of Lowden and Tipton, died peacefully on Monday, October 27, 2014 in the Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 10:30 am, St. Paul Lutheran Church, Bennett, with Pastor Jordan McKinley officiating. Burial and military rites will follow in the Oakdale Cemetery, Wilton. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 31 from 4:00 -7:00 pm at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. Raymond was born on August 28, 1925 on a farm outside of Tipton. He was the son of Herbert and Emma Carolyn Strackbein Lendt. Raymond attended the Clarence High School and served his country by enlisting in the United States Navy during WWII. On June 3, 1950 Raymond was united in marriage to Helen Louise Sterner in Atalissa, Iowa. Raymond was a farmer for most of his life and later worked as a security guard for CDS Global. Raymond was a member of the Lowden American Legion, Post 366 and a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bennett. Raymond is survived by his wife, Helen, who lives in the Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty, Iowa; his daughter, Wendy and husband, Larry McDevitt of Maquoketa, Iowa; his son, Kevin and wife, Patricia Lendt of Atalissa, Iowa; two grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Wilmot, Delmer and Elmer Lendt; four sisters, Marie Lupher, Leona Zahner, Myrtle Geertz and Francis Deerberg.
