Retha Eichhorn

Retha Ilene Miller Eichhorn, daughter of Urban Casper and Verda Blanche Russell Miller, was born May 28, 1939, in Jones County, Iowa. She was a graduate of Mechanicsville High School. On September 7, 1958, Retha was united in marriage to Gary Eugene Eichhorn in Mechanicsville. She was employed as the Activity Director at Cedar Manor Nursing Home for many years and was one of the originators of the Cedar Manor Annual Picnic. Retha served as Secretary/Treasurer for Eastern Iowa Angus Association and was a member of Eastern Iowa Angus Auxiliary, Iowa Women's Angus Auxiliary, and Hawkeye Angus Auxiliary. Retha's family was her first priority and she cherished her children and grandchildren. She loved her flower gardens and baking, especially various cookies at Christmas. She and Gary enjoyed attending antique auctions and refinishing her treasurers. Retha is loved and survived by her husband, Gary of Tipton, Iowa; a daughter, Teri Baird and husband, Al of Tipton, Iowa; her grandchildren, Angela Driscoll and husband, Sean of Stanwood, Iowa, and Tyler Baird of Tipton, Iowa; and a sister, Thelma Wagner of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, Urban and Verda Miller; son, Scott Eichhorn; and brothers, Francis Miller and Richard Miller. Memorials may be made to Cedar County Public Health, Cedar County 4-H Endowment and the Tipton United Methodist Church.
