He graduated from Tipton High School, attended Jr. College and briefly attended Central College in Pella. Dick was united in marriage to Lois Jane Rekemeyer July 9, 1950 at the E&R Church in Tipton. Dicks employment years were spent working for the Tipton telephone company, City of Tipton, farming, Department of Transportation, Purina, West Side and Wayne Feed. He retired in 1995. He served in the U.S. Army, 100th Division Cannon Company. Dick was very military minded and loved to march in parades with the Color Guard, how appropriate he passed away on Veteran's Day. He belonged to the Legion, V.F.W., Honor Guard, Masonic Lodge and the United Church of Christ. Memorial Day was special for Dick. He started as a young boy helping his Grandfather put flags on the St. Mary's and Masonic Cemeteries. He later helped William Nabor and Raymond Spencer. Then the job was turned over to him and he was proud to see the crosses and flags blowing in the breeze. He wasn't able to do this the last few years and gave the job to "Toddy" and Bonnie Swick. He enjoyed his activities with the Legion, V.F.W., and Masonic work. Earlier years he enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing cards. Dick and Lois had a group of 10 people that got together every Friday night and went out to eat, for over 40 years. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Dick is survived by his wife Lois of 66 years, daughter Diana (Mike) Stinocher of Medford, MN; son Rick (Diane) Moon of Tipton; five grandchildren, Lisa O'Hanlon, Brian (Trisha) Moon, Angie (Mike) Dietz, Andrea (Will) Idowu and Mark (Kris) Stinocher; fifteen great-grandchildren and four great great-grandchildren; brothers Randall (Ida) Moon of Ocean Isle N.C. and Jerry (Mary) Moon of Yuma, AZ.; sister Jackie Cordima of Ipswich, MA.
