Richard Francis Jedlicka

Richard Francis Jedlicka, 93, of Tipton, entered eternity on Tuesday, April 7, 2020 while under hospice care at Cedar Manor Nursing Home in Tipton.  Due to the current pandemic, there will be a private burial service on Monday April 13, 2020 at St. Mary’s Cemetery, with Father Okumo officiating. Richard was born on January 6, 1927 in Linn County, Iowa and was the son of La Forest A. Jedlicka and Ruth Margaret Murphy Jedlicka. On September 23, 1947, Richard was united in marriage to the love of his life, Betty Louise Larson, in Lisbon, Iowa.

Along with farming all of his life, Richard dedicated his time and passion to the Tipton Lion’s Club for over forty years. He was a founding member of the Tipton Senior Park board and served as board president for several years.  Richard was a lifetime member of St. Mary’s church and a member of the Knights of Columbus - 4th degree. Richard also assisted at Fry Funeral Home in Tipton for many years.

Richard is survived by his children, daughter, Mary Lou Jedlicka (Gary Mullen) Lange and three sons, Gary (Pam Tedrow) Jedlicka, Dean (Sara) Jedlicka and Dale (Marcie) Jedlicka; three sisters, Dolores (Jedlicka) Timmerman, Carol (Jedlicka) Jennings and Rita (Jedlicka) Sissel; 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, La Forest and Ruth Jedlicka; his wife, Betty Louise; his brother, Kenneth Jedlicka; his sister, Margaret (Jedlicka) Biedenbach; and his son Robert Jedlicka.

The family of Richard Jedlicka will be holding a memorial gathering on Saturday, August 28th, 2021 from 2pm-5pm at the VFW Club in Tipton, Ia. Richard passed away on April 7th, 2020 but due to health concerns for everyone, a gathering was postponed until a later date. Please come share a story and have some refreshments.
