Richard Merle Shultz

Richard Merle Shultz, 73, entered his eternal rest on July 11, 2023  at St. Mary’s in Rochester, MN following a brief illness. Private graveside services will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2023 in the Tipton Masonic Cemetery with full military honors given by the Tipton V. F. W. Post 2537 and the Tipton American Legion, Post 123. A public Celebration of Life will then be held from 5:00 to 9:00 pm at the Tipton VFW. Donations on his behalf may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project. Online condolences may be shared at www.fryfuneralhome.com.

Richard, son of Paul D. Shultz and Marjorie L. Achey Shultz, was born on October 24, 1949 in Tipton, Iowa. Richard attended Wilton High School until 1967 and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps from 1968 – 1972. Richard served in Vietnam while serving his country and was honorably discharged as a CPL in 1972.   After his tour in South Vietnam, Richard served as Military Police in Japan. Upon his return, Richard held several jobs before retiring from Prime Mover in 1997. Richard moved to Austin, MN in 2019 to be closer to his daughter and grandchildren. Richard was a member of the VFW, DAV and the World Wildlife Fund.

Richard Richard was a devoted son, father, and grandfather and will be deeply missed by his family.

Richard is survived by his daughter, Rochelle Shultz of Blooming Prairie, MN and his former stepson, Dale Honts III of Davenport, Iowa; three grandchildren, Andrew Reisen of Blooming Prairie, MN, Natalie Scheper of Austin MN, and Isabel Dickel of Blooming Prairie, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, sister, Diane Laucamp, brother, Paul Shultz, Jr., and his niece, Patricia Laucamp.
