Roberta L. Parker

Roberta Louise Parker, 79, of Tipton, died peacefully on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at 10:30 AM, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Tipton with Msgr. Francis Henricksen officiating. Burial will follow in the Tipton Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday beginning with the Rosary at 3:00 PM followed by visitation until 7:00 PM at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. Roberta, daughter of Leonard and Leona Finnegan Phelps, was born on February 10, 1939 in Iowa City, Iowa. Roberta was united in marriage to James ‘Jimmy’ Howard Parker on August 13, 1960 in West Branch, Iowa. Roberta was the City Clerk for the City of Tipton until her retirement in 1998, was a past member of the VFW Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, Tipton Moose Lodge, B.P.W., and Tipton Jaycees. She was a current member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tipton. Roberta is survived by her children; Elaine Ruth of Tipton, Iowa, Beverly (Arthur) James of El Paso, Texas, Robert (Brooke) Stepanek of Grandview, Iowa ,Rose (Joe) Hirt of Muscatine, Iowa; grandchildren, Kara and Jamie, Michelle and Michael, Christine, Jessica, Zhane and Mason, Derek and Lexi; 5 great-grandchildren, Bryon, Brandon, Braydon, Autumn, Jayce, Kallista, Roan, Deyzsa, Destiny, Marcus and Kayleigh, and great-great grandson, Sebastian; and her brother, Leonard (Joann) Phelps of Solon, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, James Parker, sister, Marilyn Mathias and great grandson, Jaxsen Ruth.
