Roger Dean Wiese

Roger Dean Wiese, 85, of Bettendorf and formerly of Bennett, entered his eternal rest late Friday night, December 6, 2024, while under the care of the Clarissa Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. Burial will be in Inland Cemetery, Bennett. Pallbearers will be Todd Schwarz, Jake Lambrecht, Aaron Schwarz, Dale Wiese, Brian Brown, and Adam Brown. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 AM prior to the funeral.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Roger’s honor will be used to plant trees on the family farm and to support other initiatives that celebrate and preserve Roger’s legacy.  Online condolences may be shared at www.fryfuneralhome.com.

Roger, son of Leroy Erwin Wiese and Ruth Carolyn Miller Wiese, was born on November 15, 1939, in Bennett, Iowa, at the family home. He graduated from Bennett High School with the Class of 1957. On June 24, 1967, Roger married Jean Irene Ludemann in Burlington, Iowa. They were blessed with four children: Julie, Allen, John, and Robert. Jean passed away suddenly on August 6, 2003. Later, on September 16, 2006, Roger married Jane Frances McGrane Brown at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Davenport.  Together, they became members of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

Roger dedicated his life to farming in Bennett. He was a past member of the Peace Church in Bennett and the Tipton United Methodist Church in Tipton. Roger had a blessed gift for music and sang in many vocal groups, including the Chordbusters barbershop men’s vocal ensemble. In his younger years, he was active in the Cedar County Farm Bureau, Pork Producers, Lions, and the Republican Party. He was also very talented with woodworking, creating all kinds of furniture and keepsakes for family and friends.

Roger is survived by his wife, Jane Wiese of Bettendorf; his children, Julie (Todd) Schwarz of Durant, Iowa, Allen (Tonya) Wiese and John (Stephanie) Wiese, both of Bennett, Iowa, and Robert (Jenna) Wiese of Boone, Iowa; stepsons, Brian (Bev) Brown of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, and Adam (Amy) Brown of Golden, Colorado; sisters, Carolyn Bunch of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Joyce Meier of Wilton, Iowa; and his brother, Frank Wiese of Texas. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Jean, his sister Lois Whitlatch, and his brothers Warren, Harold, and Walter Wiese.

Roger Wiese lived a life full of dedication, love, and music. His unwavering commitment to his family, his farm, and his community left an indelible mark on all who knew him. Roger’s musical talents and his active involvement in various organizations showcased his passion for life and his desire to make a difference. He will be remembered for his kind heart, his strong work ethic, and his ability to bring joy through song. Roger’s legacy will continue to inspire and resonate in the hearts of his loved ones. May he rest in eternal peace.
