Ronald Roy Rutherford

Ronald Roy Rutherford, age 80, of Tipton, Iowa, passed away on April 4, 2026, at Lantern Park Specialty Care in Coralville.

Ronald was born on November 4, 1945, in Thompson, Illinois, the son of Orrie Stephen and Ellen Mary (O’Brien) Rutherford. He graduated from Clinton High School with the Class of 1964.

Following his graduation, Ronald proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1964 to 1968. During his time of service, he served in a security capacity with a Radio Research unit during the Vietnam era and attained the rank of Sergeant.

Upon returning home, he worked in communications cable in the Chicago area throughout his career.

Ronald enjoyed fishing and spending time at the casino—simple pleasures that brought him happiness and quiet enjoyment throughout his life.

Ronald is survived by his sister, Mary Ellen Rutherford; and his brother, Richard Rutherford.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Dave Rutherford and Tom Rutherford.
