Rosemary Mowry

Rosemary Mowry, 89, of Bennett, died peacefully with her family at her side on Sunday, May 15, 2011 in Cedar Manor Nursing Home. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, Tuesday, May 17, 2011, Fry Funeral Home, Tipton, followed by a private family graveside service, Inland Cemetery, Bennett. Casket bearers are Craig Mowry, Barb Mowry, Russ McMillian, Ann Mowry, Kelly Bachus, and Kristy Lenz. A memorial fund has been established in her memory. Rosemary was born on April 5, 1922 in Bennett, Iowa. She was the daughter of Herman and Mary Tulenchik Thies. She grew up in the Bennett area and attended Bennett Country Schools and later attended Tipton Schools. On January 21, 1944, Rosemary was united in marriage to Leslie Leland Mowry in Davenport, Iowa. During WWII Rosemary worked for the Rock Island Arsenal and after she was married to Leslie she moved to Bennett to farm. She loved to work in the garden, canning and freezing the fruit of her labors. She enjoyed her morning coffee group and baking for her family and friends. Rosemary is survived by her daughter, Rebecca (Gary) Bachus of Madison, WI; her sons, Rennie (Bonnie) Mowry and Gary (Linda) Mowry both of Bennett, IA; her grandchildren; Craig (Barb) Mowry, Ann Mowry, Kelly Bachus and Kristy (Jonathan) Lenz; great grandchildren, Gage Mowry, Zach McMillian, and Tyler McMillian; brother, Harry (Evelyn) Thies of Dubuque, IA; sister-in-law, Helen Thies of Clarence, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Leslie Mowry on July 2, 1979; her sister, Christine Stock and two brothers, Peter Thies and Henry Thies.
