Funeral services for Ruth Marie (Ferrie) Agne, 87, of Tipton who died Saturday, February 9, 2013 will be held Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at 10:30 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Tipton, with Father David Hitch officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-7pm Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton with a rosary at 3:30 pm. Burial will be at Tipton Masonic Cemetery, Tipton. Ruth was born July 28, 1925 in Cresco, Iowa. She was the daughter of Raphael and Naomi (Cummings) Ferrie. She graduated from Cresco High School, took the Civil Service Exam and accepted a job at the Cedar County Courthouse in Tipton, Iowa. There she met Carl Reed Agne who she married on February 5, 1947 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids. Ruth enjoyed the family cabin in Ely, Hawkeye tailgating with a couple of trips to the Rose Bowl and traveling to many parts of the country. She loved sports, whether it was watching her children and grandchildren play, playing golf with Carl or the girls on Tuesdays at the Club, or watching the Cubs, Bulls and Bears on TV. She was a devoted housewife. In addition to helping on the farm she enjoyed her time working for Jim Wilson, CPA; Dean Claney, CPA; Family Foods and Richlyn's. Ruth is loved and survived by her children, Steve (Mary) Agne, Tipton; Dianne (John) Austad, Marion; Jim (Julie) Agne, Solon; grandchildren, Kelly (Greg) Wilkinson, Jennifer (Marcus) Hertert, Nicholas (Angie) Agne, Reed Agne, and Megan Agne; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Emma Wilkinson, Naomi and McCabe Hertert; sisters, Arlene (Loras) Duggan Maloney, Cedar Rapids, Jackie (John) Wilcox, Oklahoma, Peggy Rhoads, Oregon; brothers-in-law, Bill (Bonnie) Agne, Tipton, Bob Schoeberl, Naples, FL; and many loving nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Carl on March 25, 1996; brother, Bill; and sisters, Kathy, Evelyn, and Patty. Ruth's family would like to extend their appreciation and gratitude to the caring and committed staff of Cedar Manor Nursing Home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
