Ruth Eleanor Eilers was born April 16, 1925, on the family farm in rural Tipton, Iowa. She was the youngest of 4 daughters born to August and Martha Penningroth Eilers. Besides her parents, her oldest sister, Vera Agne, and next sister, Bernice Meinholdt, are deceased. Remaining is her sister, Marie Shaull, of Tipton. She graduated from the Tipton Consolidated School in 1942 and the Chillicothe Business College of Chillicothe, Missouri. Ruth Eleanor married Keith Eddie Bell on June 6, 1946, and was the mother of 5 children: Jerry Bell, now deceased, father of Brian and Brent from Missouri, and Brad from Tennessee; Eddie and Gerianne Bell from Indiana, parents of Glen, Tony, Josh, and Jody; Catherine and Dave Cronin from Michigan, parents of Jennifer and Amy; Paul and Lisa Bell from Pennsylvania; and Jon and Harriette Bell from rural Tipton, parents of Austin. They are the grandparents of 12 great-grandchildren. She was a 4-H club member and a lover of nature which led her to work with a Jr. Garden Club. Ruth Eleanor became a Christian when she was 12 years old. She worked in various capacities in the Cedar St. Baptist Church where she was a member. She was in charge of a Joy Club for children and taught a Primary childrens class in Sunday school for several years. In older years she became a published poet using it for the Lord. She felt He gave her talent to her and sometimes wrote as many as 8 in a row. In 2005 she published a book entitle, âEA
