Ruth Joyce Miller

Ruth Joyce Miller, 78, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2013 at Genesis East Medical Center, Davenport, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 7:00PM on Thursday, October 24, 2013, at Fry Funeral Home, in Tipton, Iowa. The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00PM prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home. A private burial service will be held at 1pm on Friday, October 25 at the Forest Home Cemetery in Forest Park, Illinois. Online condolences may be shared at www.fryfuneralhome.com. Memorials will be donated to Camp Courageous. Ruth was born September 17, 1935 in Oak Park, Illinois. She was the daughter of Harrison and Esther Schwartz Miller. Ruth lived in group homes in Tipton and Muscatine before moving to St. Mary's Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Davenport. Ruth loved playing Bingo and collecting stuffed animals. She enjoyed shopping and new clothes. Ruth was a special person who was very kind and family-oriented. She was a tremendous giver who would come to Christmas gatherings with a big bag filled with 40-plus gifts just so everyone would have something to open. Ruth is survived by her cousins John (Donna) Schwartz of Marion, IA., Robert Schwartz of Wheatland, IA., Ray (Dorothy) Schwartz of Williamsburg, IA., Judith Mumm of Davenport, IA., Ronald (and wife) Schwartz of Glen Ellyn, IL., and Ray Hudlik of Calamus, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, and cousins Norman Schwartz, Eleanor Schuett, Richard Schwartz and Joyce Hudlik.
