Ruth Irene Wiley, 82, of Tipton, entered eternity on Thursday, August 19, 2021, while under the care of Iowa City Hospice and with loving family by her side. A Memorial Service officiated by Pastor Ron Lashmit and Bob Knight, will be held 2:00 pm Sunday, August 22, 2021 at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton, IA. Just prior to Ruth’s service, there will be a time of Visitation from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm. Immediately following services, family and friends are invited to share in a time of memories at the Bennett Community Center American Legion A memorial fund has been established in Ruth’s name. Family asks that cards and memorials be mailed to 317 Maple St. Bennett, IA in c/o Jody Stegall. Online condolences may be shared at www.fryfuneralhome.com Ruth, daughter of Joseph Emery and Nellie Elizabeth (Bowers) Taylor was born in Iowa City, on Monday, October 17, 1938. She was the youngest of 16 children. Ruth graduated from Central City High School with the Class of 1957 and on June 29, 1967, was united in marriage to Joseph Frederick Wiley in Manchester, Iowa. Ruth was a foster parent for over 15 years. She had a feisty, stubborn, strong-willed exterior, but inside, her mighty heart was full of love, compassion and encouragement; enough to share with family and over 180 foster children of whom she cared for, raised and loved. In her free time, Ruth enjoyed camping, crafting, playing BINGO, cards and Yahtzee and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ruth was a friend to everyone around her, and a loving mother and grandmother. Ruth is survived by daughters, Jody (Tim) Stegall of Bennett, Becky (Carl) Crowley of Tipton, and Paula Devore of Knoxville; 9 grandchildren and 8 Great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Nellie; husband, Joseph; daughter, Marlyce; 8 sisters; 7 brothers; son-in-law, Dave Ford; grandson, Timothy Ford; and Great grandson, Jaden Batzkiel.
