Shirley Ann (Techau) Dunston

Shirley Ann (Techau) Dunston, 91, of Tipton, IA entered eternity with family by her side, on Friday, February 3, 2023, while under Hospice care for pancreatic cancer, at Prairie Hills, Tipton. There will be no public services for Shirley, as she will be cremated and buried with a private family graveside service, at a later date. Online condolences may be shared at www.fryfuneralhome.com

Shirley, daughter of Ervin “Jack” Fred and Dorothy Mae (Allen) Techau, was born on Friday, August 21, 1931 near Clarence, Iowa in Cedar County.  She graduated Stanwood High School in 1949 and on September 18, 1949, Shirley married the love of her life, Raymond Arthur Dunston, in Stanwood, Iowa. Shirley worked as a meat cutter at the Stanwood Locker.

In her spare time Shirley liked to sew, crochet, ceramics, macrame, any handicrafts, plant flowers, gardening, fishing and camping, playing the slot machines at Rhythm City in Davenport, Iowa and watching Iowa Hawkeye basketball.

Shirley is survived by her sons, Dale (Marcia) Dunston of Mechanicsville, IA and David (Nancy) Dunston of Wilton, IA; sister, Cindy Lage of Arizona; brothers, Jim (Mary) Techau of AZ, Richard (Toni) Techau of California and Tom Techau of Nevada; four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ervin “Jack” and Dorothy; and husband, Raymond.
