Thomas Francis Brick

Thomas Francis Brick was born August 13, 1910 north of West Branch. Tom died August 9, 2012. Tom lived in Cedar County all of his life. Tom and his brothers and sisters attended Rose Hill, Honey Grove and Owl Point country schools. Tom farmed, worked construction and retired from Cedar County in 1975. He liked to hunt, fish, work in his garden, visit with family and friends, and played many euchre games. He was a very kind person. On February 16, 1938, Thomas married Doris Countryman in Iowa City. Doris died October, 1980. He later married Lois Williams. Lois died December, 1987. Tom was a was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and a past member of the Moose Lodge. He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, brothers, Albert and John; and sisters, Gertrude, Agnes, Emma LaRue, Mayme Hansen, and Grace Jeffries. Tom is survived by two sons, Marvin (Karen) Brick of West Branch, Marty Brick (special friend, Sheryll) of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Marlene (Charles) Gann of Lamar, OK; grandchildren, Lu Miles of Iowa City, Darrall and Gerry Brick of West Branch, Tonya Olivo of Holdenville, OK, Lisa West and Stephanie Garrett of Moore, OK, and Stacy McMullan of Shawnee, OK; great-grandchildren, Amy, Krendra, Dawson, Ashley, Whitney, Michael, Jake, Jordan, Noah, Logan and Addison; and great-great-grandson, Brackyn. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Crestview Nursing and Rehab in West Branch and the staff at Prairie Hills Assisted Living Care Center in Tipton. A memorial has been established in honor of Tom. The family wishes to thank you for all your kindness and invite you to a luncheon in the lower level of Fry Funeral Home following the services.
