Timothy James Young

Timothy “Yimmy” James Young, 57, was found to have died unexpectedly, on Monday evening, August 17, 2020 at his home in Tipton, Iowa. In remembrance of Timothy, a Celebration of Life Service will be held at the First United Church of Christ, Tipton, on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at 11:00 am, officiated by Pastor Kerri Sandusky; immediately followed by a Graveside Committal Service at the Tipton Masonic Cemetery. Online condolences may be shared at www.fryfuneralhome.com Timothy, “Yimmy”, son of Martin James Young and Evelyn Edna (Moeller) Young /Sterner was born on Monday, October 22, 1962 in Davenport, Iowa. He graduated with the Tipton Class of 1981. After graduation, Yimmy moved to Texas and then to Minnesota. While in Minnesota, he lived with his sister Laurie for a short time and worked in the wood shop with her husband Gary. He met his future wife in 1987 and on September 3, 1989, Timothy married Peggi Sue Peterick in Hackensack, MN. Tim and Peggi were blessed with two beautiful boys during their ten year marriage. While living in Minnesota, Yimmy discovered his God given talent for carpentry. For years, he built houses, bid on houses and built “Scamp” Campers and Travel Trailers. He was also known to work at lumberyards and after his move back to Tipton, he worked for Troy’s Lawn and Landscape. In his free time, Yimmy enjoyed bass fishing, camping, grilling out, hanging out with friends and family and being a Grandpa to his six month old grandson. Family remembers Yimmy as a great dad and brother; a good hearted, caring man that would “do anything for anybody”, “looked out for the underdog”; and never turned away a hungry soul that showed up while he was grilling at the campground. His greatest pride and joy is his grandson Jaxson. Timothy is survived by his mother, Evelyn Sterner, Tipton, IA; ex-wife, Peggi Young-Nelson, MN; sons, Zachary James (Jessica) Young, Tipton, IA, Dalton Martin (Katie) Young, Hakensack, MN; sisters, Laurie Smith, Benedict, MN, Stephanie Herrington, Davenport, IA, Shawn Sterner, Iowa City, Shelly Sterner, Moline, IL; brothers, David (Faye) Young, Tipton, IA, Michael (Rhonda) Young, Tipton, IA, Steve Sterner, Tipton, IA, Lee Sterner, Tipton; and Grandson, Jaxson James Young, Tipton, IA. He is preceded in death by his father, Martin Young; Step-father, Dale Sterner; sisters, Cindy Schnede and Susan Sterner; and brother, Jerry Young.
