Twyla Nadine Jedlicka

Twyla Nadine Jedlicka, 77, of Tipton, died Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics. Funeral service will be held Monday, June 25, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Tipton. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 24, 2012 from 2-5 p.m. at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. Burial will follow in Woodbridge Cemetery, Tipton. Memorials may be made to Sycamore Learning Center, Tipton or Cedar Manor Nursing Home, Tipton. She is loved and survived by her daughters, Debbie (Clifford) Taylor of Mechanicsville, Dixie (Dennis) Pelzer of Tipton, Becky Gilbert of Bettendorf, Peggy (Bruce) Flockhart of Mechanicsville, Nancy (Chris) Pruess of Tipton; 15 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; brother, Gerald "Jerry" (Diane) Parsons of Ames. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Cora; husband, Kenneth; grandson, Spc. David Behrle and granddaughter, Jennifer Flockhart. Twyla was born December 4, 1934 in Johnson County, Iowa, daughter of Edward and Cora Sass Parsons. She attended country school through eighth grade and graduated from Tipton High School with the Class of 1952. Twyla was united in marriage to Kenneth (Kenny J.) W. Jedlicka, June 25, 1955 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Tipton. Twyla was a partner with her husband in their farming operation. She spent many hours raising her sheep and never turned away an animal in need of a home. She enjoyed gardening, painting, collecting antiques and Isabel Blooms. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed attending her family's activities. She was an excellent cook and baker and will be remembered for her chocolate chip cookies and chocolate pie. Twyla worked for the Sycamore Learning Center and later provided in-home daycare.
