Velda Irene Dinse

Velda Irene Dinse, 88, of Solon and formerly of Tipton, passed away peacefully at Solon Care Center on Tuesday, February 16, 2016. A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, April 2nd at 2:00 pm, Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. There will be a visitation from 1:00-2:00 pm, with an inurnment and graveside service following the service at Woodbridge Cemetery, Buchannan, Iowa. On March 26, 1927, Velda was born to Carl and Anna (Ketelson) Osterkamp, in Center Junction, Iowa. Velda attended Anamosa Schools and graduated with the class of 1944. She then met the love of her life, Hilbert James and they were married on September 16, 1963 in Tipton, where they resided until Hilbert's passing in 2005. Velda's years of employment were spent working at Rockwell Collins for 34 years. There she was a lead Assembler and proud of her work on the Gemini and Apollo spacecrafts. She was a member of the Swisher American Legion Auxiliary and had a Lutheran faith. In Velda's younger years, she and her late husband enjoyed fishing and traveling. Velda is survived by her niece, Mary Kucera of Solon; 2 sisters, Luella Bickford and Helen Gerst both of Anamosa; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hilbert James; brothers, John, Louis, and Elmer Osterkamp.
