Vernon Henry Lamp, son of Edward and Rosa Young Lamp, was born on March 23, 1911 in Red Oak Township, Cedar County, Iowa. He was a 1930 graduate of the Tipton High School. His class was the first class to complete all four years of high school in the new building. Vernon was united in marriage to Ethel Maxine Schott on March 2, 1942 in Davenport, Iowa. Vernon farmed his entire life. Even when he was unable to operate the machinery he still was involved with his sons in the farming operation. Vernon was a past member of the Tipton Masonic Lodge, AFAM #11. He served in all the chairs and was the Past Master of the Lodge. Vernon was also a past member of the Davenport Consistory, KAABA Shrine, the Tipton Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge #730; and a member of the First United Church of Christ, Tipton, where he served as an elder and a deacon. Vernon is survived by his three sons; Ronald Lamp, and wife, Wendy of Tipton; Donald Lamp of Tipton; and Keith Lamp, and wife, Linda of Tipton; 9 grandchildren, Craig Lamp, Shannon Hillbrand, Devon Lamp, Aaron Lamp, Eric Lamp, Elly Lamp, Debra Carr, Joyce Gates and Butch Hilliard. One great grandchild, Devann. Vernon is also survived by former wife and caregiver, Ethel Lamp of Tipton, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Bonnie Hilliard; sisters, Leola Carstensen and Vera Laing.
