Virginia Ann (Logan) Edens, 86, of Tipton, Iowa, passed away peacefully at home on November 14, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Born December 21, 1938, in Clinton, Iowa, Virginia was the daughter of Bryan and Virginia Logan. She grew up in Clinton, graduated from Clinton High School in 1956, and remained close throughout her life to her older brother, Bryan “Cork” Logan.
At 15, Virginia met Dale Stanley Edens. They married on July 28, 1956, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Preston, Iowa, and shared nearly 70 years of marriage. Early in their life together, they began farming the family land in Miles, Iowa, raising cattle, hogs, horses, and three children—Myrna, Roger, and Brett. Virginia worked alongside Dale in the fields and barns, tended large gardens, canned produce, and kept the household running with quiet strength and steady care.
In 1985, Virginia and Dale moved to Tipton when Dale became a deputy with the Cedar County Sheriff’s Office. They made their home there for the next four decades. Virginia became a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she remained a faithful presence. Her belief in God was central to her life, and she passed on her values through quiet example.
She was known for her cooking and baking—especially her chocolate sheet cake, cinnamon rolls, and homemade buns. She loved flowers, particularly her red rose bushes, and later in life took up needlepoint and blanket-making for her family. In retirement, she enjoyed walking and could often be seen out around town, always returning home to the people she loved.
Virginia was a woman of discipline, humility, and deep care for others. Though quiet by nature, she was unwavering in her devotion to her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren knew her as a safe, loving presence—someone who was always there when needed, and whose calm spirit made them feel at home.
She is survived by her husband, Dale Edens; daughter, Myrna Frink of Lexington, OK; sons, Roger Edens of Nashotah, WI, and Brett Edens of DeWitt, IA; grandchildren, Amber, Trevor, Zach, Kelly, Riley, Suton, and Taner; and great-grandchildren, Kale, Quinn, Ryan, Vanessa, Adrianna, Santiago, and Hunter. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Bryan “Cork” Logan.
Visitation will be held Sunday, November 23, 2025, from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Fry Funeral Home in Tipton, with funeral services immediately following at 2:00 PM. Burial will take place at Red Oak Cemetery at 3:00 PM.
