Walter Graham

Walter Louis Graham, son of Dora Nissen Graham & Frank L. Graham, was born October 9, 1921, in Nowlin Settlement, Souh Dakota. He attended school in Midland, South Dakota. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II from 1942 -1946 with the Signal Corps. He was stationed in New Caladonia and with the occupation in Japan. He married Dorothy Jane Freeman, on July 21, 1947, in the parish house of St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. In August, Mr. Graham and his new bride moved to Tipton where he managed and later owned the Tipton Bootery until 1987. For many years, an avid antique collector and restorer, he opened Walt's Antiques in 1987. After the death of his wife, Dorothy, in 1984, he married Evelyn Wenndt, on December 27, 1986. Mr. Graham was an active participant in Tipton businesses and civic life as a member of the Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club, VFW Post 2537 and the Moose Lodge. He is survived by his beloved wife, Evelyn Graham, of Tipton, Iowa; his son, Dennis Graham, of San Francisco, California; daughter, Christine Anderson & husband, Larry, Jr., of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren, James T. Anderson and Elizabeth Rose Anderson; step-children, Jerilyn Nelson, & husband, Phil, Jacquelyn Sheldon, & husband, Philip, and Jeffrey Wenndt, & wife, Debra; step-daughter-in-law, Pamela Wenndt; step-grandchildren, Regan Sheldon, Kelly Noren, & husband Eric, Randi Sheldon, Allison Wenndt, Rachel Sheldon, Andrew Wenndt, Jenel Wenndt and Larry Anderson III; brother, Bert Graham, of Marion, Iowa; and a sister, Pearl Wolf, of Bluff Lake, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dora & Frank Graham; his wife, Dorothy Graham; a son, Joseph Graham; a step-son, Thomas Wenndt; and a brother, James Graham.
