Wilson Howe

March 3, 1919 — September 8, 2005

Wilson Dean Howe, son of Orlando Howard and Fredricka Barber Beabner Howe, was born on March 3, 1919 in Rochester Township in Cedar County, Iowa. Wilson attended the Hebron School and was later drafted into the Army on Feb 17, 1941. Wilson served overseas for 32 months and was honorably discharged on June 27, 1945. He received the Purple Heart on Anzio Beach, Italy and fought 4 months on Anzio Beach with heavy fighting. He went through the European Theater, winding up at Hitler's home in Austria. He was a lifetime member of the Tipton VFW Post #2537. Wilson was married on February 28, 1953 to Doris Achenbach at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Wilson is survived by his wife, his four children; Janet (David)Wethington of Tipton, Harlan (Karen) Howe of Tipton, Diana (Bill) Zach of Tipton, and Lori Howe of Detroit Lakes, MN; grandchildren, Julie Ruggeberg, Logan Howe, Austin Howe, Kalyn Howe, Kyle Zach and Nicole Zach, three step grandchildren; Bridget Darnell, Casey Wethington and Pam Anderson. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 granddaughter at birth, 4 sisters; Helen Gaul, Geneive Herring, Frances Maxson and Evelyn Hayslett; and his brother Raymond Howe.
