Alfred “Al” Harold Ralston, 91, of Mechanicsville, IA, passed into eternity on Thursday, February 3, 2022, while at the Mechanicsville Specialty Care.
A Graveside Committal Service with Military Honors presented by the Mechanicsville American Legion Post 309, will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Mechanicsville, IA. Al, son of Harold and Etta (Smith) Ralston, was born on Wednesday, July 23, 1930 in Iowa City, IA. He graduated from Wilson High School in Cedar Rapids and from June 17, 1949 to April 13, 1953, served his country as a Machinist apprentice in the US Navy. He worked for FMC/Linkbelt for many years. Prior to that he had a barbershop in Mount Vernon Iowa working alongside his father. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Mechanicsville, IA.
Al is survived by his daughter, Terri Smith (Steve) of Texas; grandson, Austin; his sister, Bonnie LaPorte of Wausau, WI; three special nieces, Carol Steiger of TX, Cheryl Martino of WI, and Elaine Smith of WI; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Etta Mae Foreville; and brothers, Ray, Murlo, Ivan and David.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to his good friend and neighbor Paul Griffith, who arranged a special car parade for him on the occasion of his 91st birthday; and also, a thanks to the staff of the Mechanicsville Specialty Care Center.
