Alvin Lee Draper, 74, of Tipton, died peacefully on Wednesday, June 15th while under the care of St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Alvin will be laid to rest with dignity in the Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at 2:00 pm. Military Honors will be given by the Vietnam Vets of America Post 299. Alvin was born on October 14, 1947 in Santa Monica, California. He was the son of John Wallace Draper and Cora Maxine White Brumbelow. Alvin graduated from Carson High School in Carson, California and later graduated from Antelope Valley Junior College in Lancaster, California. Alvin proudly served his country by serving in the United States Army from August 23, 1967 to August 23, 1969. Alvin served with Co I 523rd Signal Battalion and while serving in Vietnam, Alvin was exposed to Agent Orange which affected his health for many years eventually leading to heart failure along with other associated health issues. Alvin was a truck driver in his early life and was of the Baptist faith.
Alvin is survived by his sisters; Linda Draper of Long Beach, California and Clora Brumbelow of Woodland Hills, California; brothers, Glen Draper of Riverside, California and Charles Draper. Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, John and Cora, his brother, Harvey Draper, and his nephew, Paul Michael Draper.
