Barbara Ellen (Wilson) Skerry

Barbara Ellen Skerry, 87, formerly of Mechanicsville, died Thursday, September 15, 2022 at Grand Living at Bridgewater in Coralville, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, September 20th at the Mechanicsville Presbyterian Church with Rev. James Goodrich officiating. Barbara, daughter of Frank Morse Wilson and “Pagie” Virginia (Page) Wilson, was born on August 25, 1935 in Mechanicsville. Barbara earned her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa and her Master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin.  Barbara was united in marriage to Herbert Bancroft Skerry on August 21, 1960 in Mechanicsville.  Barbara worked as a librarian for many years and retired as a Monmouth County reference librarian in Freehold, NJ.  Barbara was a member of the AAUW (American Association of University Women) and was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Mechanicsville.  

Barbara is survived by her son, David Skerry and his wife, Elizabeth, of Tijeras, New Mexico and her sister, Virginia Woods of Mechanicsville, Iowa as well as nieces and nephews: Mary Lea Woods, Dick Woods (Becky), Michael Damron and Kent Woods (Evie). She was preceded in death by her husband, brother-in-law, William Woods, and niece, Karen Damron.
