Ben was born on Friday, June 10, 1977, in Marshalltown, Iowa, to John Conrad and Tressa Jean (Arney) Barnum. He graduated from Tipton High School in 1995. After graduation, Ben worked for PCI in Reinbeck, Iowa until he moved to Buffalo, WY and started his own excavation & grading company, Barnum Construction Services.
Ben was a great storyteller, had a contagious smile, and was a hard worker. He loved his cattle and his dog “Belle”. His family describes him as a loving son, uncle and the best brother anyone could ask for. Always willing to help anyone in need, as he never knew a stranger. His children were the light of his life, he loved them more than life itself. In the last few months before he was taken to heaven, Ben rededicated his life to God. He was reading his Bible and praying daily and giving all his worries to the Lord. He was at peace with whatever life threw at him.
Ben is survived by his children, Jonathan Matthew, Lilly Anne, Velvet Rose, and Morning Glory Barnum and their mother Veronica; parents, Tressa and Richard Townsend of Muscatine, Iowa and John and Mary Barnum of Tipton, Iowa; sister, Amanda (Russ) Hughes of Brighton, CO; brothers, Aaron (Breanne) Barnum of Des Moines, Iowa, and Willie (Brandy) Barnum of Buffalo, Wyoming; grandparents, Conrad and Vi Barnum of Sevierville, Tennessee; his very special brothers and sisters, Eric (Barb) Townsend, Shane (Candi) Townsend, Josh (Carine) Townsend and Leslie (Jake) Klipsch; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and his very special friends Darren Fry, Trent Lemberg, Cork Peterson, Greg and Rachel Schlemmer; Rachel and Florence Grandfield.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Michael John Barnum and Matthew Henry Barnum; grandparents, John and Wava Arney.
