Betty Jane (Averill) Rouse

Betty Jane Rouse, 92, of Tipton, entered eternity with her family by her side on Saturday, November 23, 2019 while under the care of Cedar Manor Nursing Home in Tipton. Betty will be laid to rest in the Clarence City Cemetery at a later date.  Online condolences may be shared at www.fryfuneralhome.com.

Betty, daughter of Harry and Elizabeth Vandzant Averill, was born on November 28, 1926 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Betty attended school in Cedar Rapids and completed her GED while in her 60’s, a task that she was very proud of. Betty spent most of her life in the kitchen cooking for others. She worked for many years in the Holiday House Steakhouse Restaurant in Mount Vernon and the Mechanicsville Nursing Home in Mechanicsville. She also helped others by cleaning houses and doing whatever she could to provide for herself and her family. She was of the Methodist faith.

Surviving are her daughters, Sharon Kay and husband, Bill Young of Tipton, Peggy Allen of Tulsa, OK and Nance Jane and husband, Donald Bergen of Tulsa, OK; grandchildren, Brad and Leah Young, Robert Young, Donna, Penny and Christopher Bergen and Jacob Allen; great grandchildren, Cody and Brenna Young and Jordyn Allen; and many great-great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her son, Harold Studt, and her brothers, Bob and ‘Squirt’ Averill and two grandchildren, Jason Allen and Penny Bergen.
