Carmen Davidson, daughter of Ken and Margaret Kadlec was born on September 28th, 1941, in Cedar Rapids, IA. She graduated from Mechanicsville High School class of 1960 then attended what is now Capri Cosmetology College. She met her husband, Butch, in kindergarten. They attended elementary and high school together before marrying on October 13, 1962. Butch enlisted in the USMC which took them to Jacksonville, NC until his discharge in 1965. They then returned to Mechanicsville where they built their life and raised four children. Carmen worked as a beautician at the Mechanicsville Care Center for 27 years.
Carmen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed gardening, cooking with Butch, playing cards and golf with her family and doting on her grandchildren who were the light of her life. Carmen loved to travel to the lake or beach. She had an engaging personality and was always willing to lend a sympathetic ear or a hug to anyone who needed it. She was a “second mother” to her children’s many friends and loved them like her own. Simply put: the world was a more beautiful place with Carmen in it.
Carmen is survived by her daughter: Nicole (Dan) Jilovec of Mechanicsville; Sons: Jeff (Ann Jurgensen) Davidson of Mechanicsville, Brad (Carla) Davidson of Osage Beach, MO, and Tim (Lori) Davidson of Wade, NC; four grandchildren: Adam Davidson, Kylee Jilovec, Kaitlyn Jilovec and Emily Davidson and one great granddaughter: Taytum Butler.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Butch and her parents, Ken and Margaret Kadlec. In lieu of flowers Memorials should be made to Mercy Hospice or the Mechanicsville Public Library.
