Caroline Selma Beuthien, 96, of Bennett, Iowa, passed away on September 1, 2023 while under the care of the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 5th, beginning at 1:00 pm immediately followed by her funeral service at 2:00 pm, all taking place at Fry Funeral Home in Tipton, Iowa with the Rev. Ronald Lashmit, officiating. Burial and last rites will conclude in the Inland Cemetery and a dessert lunch will follow at the Bennett American Legion Hall. Caroline was born on September 4, 1926 in Cedar County, Iowa. She was the daughter of Charles Boedeker and Alma Louise Wendt Boedeker. Caroline graduated from Tipton High School with the Class of 1944. On December 4, 1948, Caroline was united in marriage to Roger Louis Beuthien in St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Wheatland. Together they raised their three children; Susan, Kenneth and Douglas. Caroline was a homemaker and a farmwife. She was a member of the Peace Church of Christ United in Bennett, The Royal Neighbors of America and the Bennett Senior Citizens. Even at age 96, Caroline lived by herself in her home outside of Bennett which is a testimony to her good health and being active all of her life.
Caroline is survived by her children, Susan (Mark) Lyon of Bettendorf, Iowa, Kenneth (Shelley) Beuthien of Wheatland, Iowa, and Douglas (Judy) Beuthien of Bennett, Iowa; 5 grandchildren, Julie (Steve) Woerdehoff, Melissa (Ryan) Rosol, Shawna (Josh) Kerr, Jeff (Melissa) Beuthien and Amanda (William) Beuthien, grandson-in-law, Brett McCoy and 14 great grandchildren. Caroline was preceded in death by her husband, Roger, son, Tommy, granddaughter, Shari McCoy and great grandson, Nicholas Woerdehoff.
