David Alan Lovell, 76, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family in his own home in Rochester on Thursday, April 25, 2024. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at the Rochester Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Ron Lashmit. Online condolences may be shared at www.fryfuneralhome.com.
David, the son of Frank and Myrtle “Monnie” (Collison) Lovell, was born on August 4, 1947 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He lived his entire life in Rochester, Iowa, graduating from Tipton High School in 1966. He worked as a painter for the University of Iowa which included the duties of painting the lines for the football field and painting the basketball court at the University. He married Suzanne “Sue” Rodgers in 1979. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, and snow mobile riding. He enjoyed sports including football and boxing. He was a founding member of Cedar County Winter Warriors. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed karaoke and singing.
David is survived by his wife, Sue of Rochester; three sons, David (Hank) Lovell-Miller of Wilton, Dane (Cherie) Lovell of West Liberty and Jim Lovell of Rochester; three grandsons, Cooper, Sebastian and Oliver Lovell; a brother, Frankie Lovell of Tipton; and three sisters, Joanne Curry of Rochester, Jayne Mundell of Atalissa and Julyne Kenney of Cortland, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
