Don Yule was born July 8, 1938, in Brookings, South Dakota. In 1941 his family moved to a small farm in White, South Dakota where Don attended elementary and high school. When he graduated from White High School, Don joined the Navy and served on a repair ship, the USS Cadmus. In 1959 he was honorably discharged. After his time in the Navy, Don attended South Dakota State College where he graduated with a business degree in 1964.
Don worked as inventory control auditor for Vigoro Fertilizer Company, part of the IMC Global company and its predecessor companies. Advancing with the company, Don became supervisor of inventory control. When the company moved their local operation to the home office in Illinois, Don decided to retire and stay in Florida.
Don was an avid golfer and a lifelong Moose member. He was instrumental in creating a Moose golf group where members would meet weekly at local golf courses. Don was also instrumental in creating a Catholic singles group that met at local restaurants. Additionally, he was active in the Winter Haven Chamber of Commerce representing Vigoro Fertilizer Company at various events.
Don was a resident of Arbor Oaks at Lakeland Hills since 2017. After a long battle with Parkinson's Disease, Don succumbed to the disease on September 3, 2023.
Don is preceded in death by his son Mark Yule. Don is survived by his wife, Kathleen Yule; his daughter Kellie and her husband Robert Grimes; daughter Stacy Ellison; son David and his wife Gina Yule; and son Bill and his wife Carri Yule; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at Red Oak Grove Cemetery in Tipton, Iowa on Monday, September 18th at 11:00 am. Online condolences may be shared at www.fryfuneralhome.com.
