Gerri was born on March 9, 1930 in Cedar County, Iowa. She was the daughter of Clarence John Ford and Lorine Estella Meixner Ford. Gerri graduated from high school in 1948 and on October 17, 1950, she was united in marriage to Francis ‘Bub’ Harold Schilling in Kansas City, Missouri. Gerri had an interesting life. She worked at the Hardacre Theater with her husband, Bub, and in the ceramics store with her mother-in-law, Ruby Schilling. Gerri may have delivered your mail to you as she was a rural mail carrier for many years.
As an adult she took classes and earned her EMT Certificate and served on the Tipton Ambulance for several years. Gerri loved animals. She also loved her nieces and nephews and cousins as though they were her children. Throughout her life she cared for Bub as his eyesight and health worsened. She also cared for her mother and father and her mother-in-law as they aged. Gerri spent her last days at the Wilton Retirement Community. She was well cared for throughout her time there, especially in her last days.
Gerri was preceded in death by her husband, Francis ‘Bub’ Schilling on December 10, 2009, her brothers, Mike Ford on January 29, 2005 and Clarence Ford on August 20, 2001, her parents and her in-laws. Gerri is survived by her nieces and nephews as well as those who knew her. May she rest in peace.
