Haeng Sun (Kim) Holets

(Kim) Haeng Sun Holets, 60, of Tipton, entered eternity in the early morning hours of Sunday, November 6, 2022 from liver failure, at home and surrounded by her loving family. Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton, from 4 pm – 7 pm. Also at Fry Funeral Home, a Funeral Service will be on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at 10:30 am. Immediately following the funeral service, Haeng Sun will be laid to rest in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Mechanicsville. In lieu of flowers, family would prefer to receive memorials to help offset funeral expenses. Cards and memorials may be sent to 1005 Walters Dr. Tipton, IA 52772. On Thursday, August 2, 1962, Haeng Sun was born in Chongup-kun Chonpuk-do, South Korea, to father, Kim, Sok Yong and mother Kim, Yong Tol. Haeng Sun met the love of her life, Lary Lyn Holets while he was serving his country in the US Army in Korea. They were united in marriage on March 9, 1992 in Seoul, South Korea and were later blessed with two children. After returning to the US, Haeng Sun and Lary moved to Iowa; first to Mechanicsville and then Tipton. Haeng Sun was a member of and attended the All Nations Baptist Church, Iowa City, IA. Haeng Sun had a love for music. During her younger years in Korea she would sneak a radio into her grandmother’s attic, just so she could listen to the American 60’s genre. Haeng Sun was known for her cooking abilities, whether it was making traditional Korean food or having the ability to throw anything together and make it taste delicious. She enjoyed watching Korean cooking videos on Youtube and other Korean programming. She also had a love for gardening both flowers and fresh vegetables. Family describes her as a “spitfire with the hottest of tempers, but also having the sweetest of hearts”. She was known for taking on a motherly role to anybody she met and always wanted the best for others. 

Haeng Sun is survived by her husband, Lary; daughter, Hannah Holets of Tipton; son, Josiah Holets of Tipton; and step-sons, Lary Holets Jr and Joshua Holets, both of Lisbon. She was preceded in death by her father, Kim, Sok Yong.
