It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jerry Eugene Oakley. He passed away suddenly on Tuesday, October 13th at the age of 66. He was born February 8th, 1955 in Audubon Iowa and grew up in Tipton. He married his wife, Carol on April 7th, 2001. He worked at Gerdau Ameristeel for 34 years and was a proud member of the local Steelworkers union #8581 in Wilton, IA. He was a lover of hunting, fishing, family, and a clean organized garage.
Jerry is survived by his wife Carol Oakley and sister Sherri Havel; his children, Bronwyn Oakley, Matthew Oakley, Brandon Oakley, and Chelsie (Joshua) Gingery. He loved spending time with his four grandchildren, Maxine & Frankie Gingery and Tyler & Isabella Oakley. He was preceded in death by his parents James and Mary Oakley and brother James “Buddy” Oakley Jr.
There will be a Celebration of Life open to friends and family starting at 2pm on Saturday, October 23rd held in Tipton at Roth Electric 801 West 3rd Street.
