LaVern was a farmer all of his life and was a member of the Farm Bureau and the Cedar County Cattleman’s Association. LaVern loved the land, planting and harvesting the crops and tending to his beautiful Angus cattle.
LaVern is lovingly survived by his two sons, Ronald and Bonnie Cook and Russell and Dianne Cook, all of Mechanicsville, Iowa; his granddaughter, Kellie and Jason Arduser of Monticello, Iowa and their children, Kyle and Kayla. LaVern was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Geneva in 2004; sister, Marguriete Pieper in 2014 and his brother Arnold who died in infancy.
Thank you to the caring staff of the Solon Nursing Home and the Iowa City Hospice.
