Lena, daughter of Lewis L. and Angie Etta (Brown) Aaron was born on Friday, December 14, 1923 in Mechanicsville, IA. After attending Mechanicsville High School, Lena married the love of her life, Earl Leroy Rohlf on June 1, 1941 in Tipton, IA and they started their life together on a farm in Bennett, IA. Lena was a mother and homemaker who also helped her husband, Earl, farm Herford cattle and pigs for forty years. In their free time, Lena and Earl shared the hobby of card playing until his death in December of 2002. After Earl’s death, Lena continued to play cards with family and friends. She also enjoyed: playing BINGO, listening to polka music, Lawrence Welk and Paul Harvey, quilting, gardening vegetables - especially her Kohlrabi, and watching the Cardinal birds outside her window. Family describe Lena as being a patient, compassionate and resilient woman and will miss their shared trips to Dairy Queen, talking on the phone with her every day and seeing her smiling face.
Lena is survived by two grandchildren, Lynell (Terry) Rohlf-Flattery of Mooresville, NC and Mike (Glenna) Rohlf of Davenport, IA; niece, Carolyn Lange of Tipton, IA; great grandson, Shane Flattery of Mooresville, NC; and numerous other grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Leroy Rohlf; son, Francis Allen Rohlf; parents, Lewis and Angie Aaron; and four sisters, Martha Maxon, Lillian Thompson, Eva Bouschlicker, and Evelyn Simonson
