Norman ‘Norm’ Duane McQuillen, 73, of Rochester, Iowa, passed away very suddenly on Friday, March 22nd from complications of a heart attack. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at the Tipton VFW. Online condolences may be shared at www.fryfuneralhome.com. Norman, son of Norman “Hoot” and Sylvia Morgan McQuillen, was born on September 8, 1950 in Omaha, Nebraska. Norman graduated High School in Tipton with the Class of 1969. Norman served our country from May 19, 1970 to August 8, 1972 in the United States Air Force. On May 20, 1978, Norman was united in marriage to Gloria R. Harden in Davenport, Iowa. They moved to Rochester where Norman worked as a carpenter most of his life until he retired.
Norm is survived by his wife, Gloria ‘Skeeter’ of Rochester, his son, Ryan McQuillen and his wife, Tia of Blue Grass, Iowa and daughter, Amber and husband, Mike Phillips of Rochester; grandchildren, Hunter Nelson, Hayden McQuillen, Alivia and Ephraim Phillips and his sisters, Twyla Formoso of Lebanon, Illinois and Aloha (James Webster) McQuillen of Tipton, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Sylvia McQuillen and his in-laws, Eugene Harden and Rhoda Harden.
