Patricia Ann (Horstmann) Hillyer

Patricia A. Hillyer, 77, of Bennett, died peacefully on May 4, 2021, with family by her side, under the care of Hospice at Prairie Hills Assisted Living, Tipton. Private family funeral services will be held on Friday, May 7th at Fry Funeral Home, in Tipton. Rev. Ronald Lashmit officiating. Patricia was born on July 13, 1943 in Davenport, Iowa. She was the daughter of Richard Debner, he was killed in the line of duty during World War II in France shortly after Patricia was born, and Melba Horstmann. Patricia was later adopted by Melba’s second husband, Fred Henry Horstmann Sr. Patricia attended Bennett School. On April 15, 1961, Patricia was united in marriage to Marlin Raymond Hillyer in Bennett, Iowa. He preceded her in death on November 11, 2019. Patricia was a homemaker and held a seamstress diploma. She was a member of the Clarence American Legion Auxiliary for 72 years. Patricia enjoyed fishing, “shore lunches”, camping, knitting, crocheting, repairing clothing for her family and designing quilts. Patricia love spending time with family.

Patricia is survived by her son, David (Jeannie) Hillyer of Bennett, daughters, Deanna (Roger) Welch of Mechanicsville, Doreena Crock of Tipton, Deborah (Tony) Howell of Muscatine, Grandchildren, Jennifer (Patrick) Glover, Anna (Jacob) Dohmen, Derick (Anna) Crock, Katelynn (Travis) Cook, Mason Ochiltree, Makahla Howell. Great-Grand children, twins Keira and Carter Glover, Norah Glover, Lily Dohmen, Emma Dohmen, Ethan Dohmen, Easton Crock, Cheyanne Cook, Ella Cook, Hazel Cook and one on the way, one step Great-Grand child, Alexa Cantu: Siblings, Susan (Gilbert) Pewe of Dixon, Mike (Bev) Horstmann of Bennett, Fred Jr. (Karis) Horstmann of Bennett.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard Debner, Melba Horstmann, Fred Horstmann, Sr.; husband Marlin Hillyer and Son-In-Law Richard Crock.
