Reginald Forest Jennings, 73, Tipton, passed away at his home in Tuesday, July 19,2022. Per his request cremation rites have been accorded.
Reggie was born on July 7, 1949 to Hazel Jennings and birth-father Melvin L. Gesme. He was educated in Muscatine and Tipton, graduating from Tipton in 1967.
During his career he sold insurance, managed several grocery stores, and was a table games dealer at Riverside Casino. Reggie and his wife Helen owned and operated Reggie’s Bar in Tipton for 15 years.
Reggie married Carla Schontz and three children were born to that marriage. They later divorced. He married Helen Decker on Aug. 27, 1988.
He enjoyed family, golf, casinos, and everything Hawkeye. His personality knew no strangers. He always had a smile and probably a joke to tell. He was the “glue” in his family and enjoyed that role. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Helen; daughters, Angela Doherty, and Aimee Simpson; son, Douglas; grandsons, Joe Sesker, Ben Sesker, Alex Sesker, Eli Simpson, Ren Jennings and Finn Jennings; a sister, Jennifer Rochau; brothers, Ric (Becky) Jennings and Kelly Brown; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Candace Jennings-Brown and Lahoma Jones; and brothers, Ryne Brown, Larry Jones, and Jim Jones.
Per his wishes there will be no services at this time. Inurnment to be held later in the Dayton Valley Cemetery, Clarence, Iowa.
A Celebration of Life is planned for Saturday, August 20th at the Tipton VFW (located at 401 Lemon Street) beginning at 4:00 P.M.
