Robert James (Jim) Brennan, 86, of Tipton passed away Sunday morning, December 9, 2018. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 13 at 11:00 am, Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. Cremation will follow. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 12 from 4:00-7:00 pm. A memorial fund has been established for the Tipton Ambulance, Tipton Fire Department and the Eastern Iowa Honor Flight. Online condolences may be shared at www.fryfuneralhome.com.
Jim was born on July 21, 1932 and was the son of Thomas H. and Elvera L. (Greve) Brennan. Jim graduated from Tipton Community High School with the Class of 1950. Jim enlisted in the United States Army and serve his country in the Korean Conflict from February 4, 1953 until receiving his honorable discharge on February 23, 1955. Jim was united in marriage to JoAnn L. Winslow on April 28, 1957 in Tipton, Iowa. He was a farmer all of his life, drove the Tipton school bus for 30 years and was a cattle order buyer. Jim was a member of the Tipton VFW Post 2537 and a former member of the Loyal Order of the Moose #730.
Jim is survived by his wife, JoAnn of Tipton, Iowa; three daughters, Brenda and husband, Tom Pelzer of Sheridan, Wyoming, Sue and husband, Bob Frame of Ainsworth, Iowa, Shelley Walker (Vaughn) of Marion, Iowa; grandchildren, Rob Hartig (Michelle), Garret Hartig, Jeff Pelzer (Angie), Jerrad Pelzer (Jackie), Jordan Pelzer (Kylie), Natalie Walker Taylor (Derek), five great-grandchildren, Rylee Hartig, Brook Driscoll, Jackson Pelzer, Kaylee Pelzer and Kooper Pelzer, step-grandchildren, Eric Frame and Shaun Frame and four step- great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Don.
