Shari (McAlerney) McCoy, 50, of Newton, KS, passed away in her home in early Tuesday morning May 25, 2021.

Shari was born on July 21, 1970 in Iowa City, Iowa. Shari graduated from Bennett High School, also AIC in Davenport and UNI, Cedar Falls. On December 9, 1995 Shari was united in marriage to Brett McCoy. She worked in the 911 system in Washington, IA and for the Harvey County Sheriff's department, Newton, KS. She was also a paralegal for the Harvey County Attorney, Newton, KS. Shari enjoyed knitting, sewing and reading. She was known for her outgoing personality and ability to easily make friends. Shari was a true "people person". She enjoyed music and especially enjoyed the music of Seether, Foo Fighters and Ratt. She looked forward to traveling with her family and Chicago and New Orleans were her favorite places to visit.
Shari is survived by her husband, Brett McCoy of Newton, KS, two daughters at home - Erin and Morgan, her mother and step-dad Susan and Mark Lyon of Bettendorf, Iowa, her sister, Shawna and her husband, Josh Kerr of Bettendorf, Iowa and grandmother Caroline Beuthien, Bennett, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Roger Beuthien of Bennett, Iowa.
