Steven "Steve" Carl Buettner

Steven "Steve" Carl Buettner, 70, of Tipton, passed away from this world on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at his residence. Online condolences may be shared at www.fryfuneralhome.com. 
Steve was born Friday, August 3, 1951 in Watertown, South Dakota to Edward and Eleanor, and shared the home with brother and sisters Lee, Anne, Julie and Nancy.  Steve moved to Iowa City, IA with his family in 1963 and stayed in the southeastern Iowa area.
Growing up, Steve really enjoyed the summer visits at the Bondeson/Bauer cabin on Sylvan Lake, Minnesota.  He would say, “I worked hard, but I played a lot, too!”  Steve took pride in bringing home a good catch of fish and delighted in the recognition of a thoughtful dinner contribution.
At the age of 15, Steve began his career as a meat cutter. He took pride in his work; it was a large part of his life.  He worked in many stores throughout the area for 50 years until he retired in 2015, with Randall’s Iowa City providing his favorite memories.  He built great relationships there that he talked about for decades. During those years he enjoyed bowling and golfing with friends and his brothers-in law.
In the summer of 1971, Steve married Gwen Hutto and with this union, two children were born: Lisa and Thomas.  Steve was extremely proud of his children and cherished discussing them with others. Up at the Minnesota cabin, Steve spent quality time with his family.  He loved starting up a good game of cards.  Steve enjoyed fishing with his son, teaching him all the tricks, and showing him all the good spots. Steve was a happy-go-lucky, good-hearted fellow and will be remembered fondly by many.
