Wendy Sue Long, 73, of Tipton, IA, died on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 while at UnityPoint Health - St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, IA. Per Wendy’s wishes, no funeral or memorial services will be held. She was cremated and her ashes are in the safe keeping of her family.

Wendy was born on Sunday, December 25, 1949 in Tipton, IA, to LaVerne and Angela Joyce (Leaf) Long. She was one of two twin girls. She graduated from Tipton High School with the Class of 1969. Wendy retired after working for 35 years as a knife sharpener for West Liberty Foods. After her retirement, Wendy worked at Ms. Molly's Antiques & Collectibles in Tipton. She was also a greeter at the Cedar County Attic Museum above Ms. Molly’s and helped during the annual Tour of Lights celebrations.
In her free time, Wendy enjoyed playing cards with her weekly card group, drinking diet Pepsi and watching either westerns or crime programs on the television. She was known for her sassy and spunky spirit, and the deep love she had for her cat, “Holly”, bird, “Angel” and her family and friends.
Wendy is survived by her twin sister, Wanda Lou (Jerry Lindner) Chaplin of Monticello, IA; close and dear friend, Pam Freet; nieces and nephews, James (Shelly) Chaplin, Robert (Rene) Chaplin, Salina (John) Reynolds, Katie (Scott) Snyder, and Jim Cook; great nephews, Eric (Shayla) Chaplin, Austin (Jaden) Chaplin, Zachary Chaplin, and Cullen Reynolds.
She was preceded in death by her parents, LaVerne and Angela; sister, Judy Cook; and brother, Rick Long.
